GE Profile oven clicking constantly!

I call it a click...it really sounds like the noise you would hear when the temperature drops and the oven elements come on. Know what I mean? Anyway, I've not used this oven all that much so far, but it drove me nuts last night. I counted and no more then 30 seconds ever went by that you did not hear this noise. Sometimes it would be three seconds, or fifteen but never more then thirty seconds...constantly. Our living area is very close to the kitchen and even with the TV on, it drove me crazy. I can't abide by this.

I mentioned it to the repair guy and he replaced something on it...sensor board or something? That tells you alot, huh? Anyway, whatever he replaced did not solve the problem. This is a single wall oven with convection although I've not even tried that feature. I've just used the regular bake mode.

Anyone else have a problem like this??? I really don't think I can stand this. I will be constantly mad when something is baking and if guests come over, I will be embarrassed, as well.

Thanks for any thoughts,

Find the breaker for the oven and turn it off then get on the phone to where you bought it and let them you you are less than happy. Is it still under warranty? Try turning on one of the convection functions and see what happens. It sounds like it may be a relay opening and closing.

Thanks so much to you both for your replies. I just went and tried the convection bake mode. I've never used convection on this oven before. I only let it get up to 175 degrees and during that time there wasn't exactly a click, but the convection fan would SHUT OFF completely for a few to several seconds and then turn back on. This happened at least three times just in the few minutes I had it on. In fact, the fan shut off maybe 15 seconds after I turned the oven on. That can't be right??? BTW, I do believe it was the relay that the tech replaced before. The oven still is in the one year warranty period.

Am I gonna start a fire or something? What does this all mean? I appreciate any help. As you might guess, I'm clueless.

    Thanks,
    pup

The fan on the convection mode does reverse directions while running but it should not stop completely. I just suggested you turn the breaker off so it would not disturb you by making the clicking noise. Definitely call the dealer and have someone check it out.

GE's convection fan reverses in the convection bake mode and stops between changing directions. That is why you noticed that it shut off. Does not reverse in the convection roast mode.
Your instruction manual explains this, I think you are OK.

I think the clicking you hear in the bake mode is the relay switching the elements on and off. Ours is almost inaudible.

I bought a GE convection oven this past summer that does the same exact clicky thing - drives me NUTS!!! Is it really supposed to happen so often?

My GE Profile range clicks when baking. The convection fan stops between reversals. I don't notice any of that any more. It has faded into the background of household activity and noises as normal operational characteristics, same as the reversing tumble every 4.5 minutes/40 seconds on my Fisher & Paykel dryer.

just purchased profile wall Oven/Microwave oven unit, soon it was connected to power started making that clicking sound. It does it every 4 to 5 seconds. I tried running the microwave but it still continues.

Just got a GE cafe installed today and the clicking is driving me bonkers.

Just bought a used GE electric glass top stove and it's clicking on and off constantly and it was sending a PF code. Stove top works great, nothing on the control panel comes on?

I have the wiring schematics for the PGS930 - email me if you think these would help and include your email. Sometimes these diagrams are attached to the back of your stove if you look.

@Ron Brunkhart now my lower oven doesn’t work, upper one ok. Fault 220. I think I’m going to try returning it today to Best Buy, I think they have 15 day return window, unless GE can repair in the next week, which is unlikely in these times. I’m really sad, this was my dream oven. I think there are too many electronics. I don’t care about WiFi whatever, I just care that it works.
