Actually, I have already started to see some younger people taking up crewel on other websites (supernaturale and whip up come to mind).

I think a lot of crafts are seeing a resurgence among younger artists. There seems to be a sense that handcrafts are indie/hip/modern and/or subversive. Both an outlet for personal expression and more political views about consumerism and the marketplace.

It happened with knitting and then sewing and embroidery. I've seen a lot of bloggers talk about cross-stitching recently and I think crewel may be next.

I did a quick google search and it looks like there is a new crewel book coming out soon. Looks like you are part of the next big thing. Everything old is new again :)

I used to do crewel work years ago, loved the rich color and textures. Have a number of half -finished pieces in a basket. Hmmm, maybe one of these days I will have to take them out and finish them!

I did some crewel work years ago. Did some regular embroidering for a while, but as the eyes got older, that came too difficult to do. I do a lot of knitting, and trying to use up left ovet yarn, I've been making bookmarks using yarn, plastic canvas and beads. I was thinking, the other day, that I should take up crewel again. That would be a good way to use up yarn. Dottie
