Coincidentally, I just heard of this brand yesterday from a reputable local dealer. He says they are a good hood. I would also be interested if anyone who has one could comment on the noise and how functional it is.

The only way to really compare mass-market hoods is to hope you can find a dealer that has both on display. There is no generally accepted way to measure either noise level (dB, sones) or flow (CFM) -- most in the mass market use them as
"bragging rights" and brand-to-brand comparisons are, in my opinion, mainly meaningless.

Quite frankly I'm ready to discount this hood all together since their website stinks (company is too cheap to invest in a decent marketing tool) and they don't publish all the info, such as noise level on their website. RED FLAG

Also, from what I can tell they are owned by an importing company which probably means they don't manufacture the parts and hood, they just purchase it from overseas, China, probably. I'm not getting a strong sense of confidence from this brand.

From my conversation with Eurostoves, Windcrest is owned by Brandt which is owned by Fagor. The person I spoke with seemed to think Windcrest was a good brand but I haven't looked at one in person yet.

I looks exactly like the Kobe. I can't see the noise level being comparable if they won't publish it.
