Right--I agree with the richness and the color is better picked up in the cabinets.

The one on the right was my original choice before we ripped up the pergo in the kitchen. I started having second thoughts thinking that the one on the right is too brown for our kitchen and clashes with the countertops. Does anybody think that it clashes? As long as it goes well with the wood in the living room, the cabinets and counters I do really like that one.

On my monitor, the tile on the right looks the same as the tile on the left, except a few shades darker. I do not think that it clashes with the wood or countertop. It looks nice.

I agree with Stoneshop. I thought it was the exact same tile, but that the one on the right had more darker veings. Either will look great. My first choice was the one on the left.

The right one stands out more than the left one. It depends on what you want the eye to catch. If countertops, go left one. Of you want tile to catch the eye then go with right one

Thank you everyone for all of the feedback- also what pattern do you think we should lay the tile? Diamond or staggered? I have attached a picture of the kitchen and the room it opens up to.

If you do diamond, there will a bunch of 'cuts' on the border between the kitchen and adjoining room. I prefer the 'orderliness' of squared off hardscape.

I would suggest doing a brick pattern--or "staggered", as you called it.

I like the tile on the left in a brick or staggered pattern. Tile on the right looks too dark. Just my 2 cents!
