earthquake sensor

I made a small earthquake sensor. It is a tripod, with a pinball hanging inside a copper wire. The schematic consists of a 9vdc battery, switch, led and speaker.
The amount of contact required between the ball and copper wire to activate, is more than I would like. Continuity between the ball and the pendulem wire is good.
Would reversing polarity make a difference in contact pressure required to complete the circuit?
Thank you
Tim
