Got a walk behind mower with elec battery starter.

the starter is damaged so the 2 perm magnets inside are loose.

i used epoxy to hold magnets in place.

the starter spins but wont spin up motor.

i saw no markings on magnets to show up/down or pos or neg.

do the mags have to be oriented in a certain way?

the battery is NEW. and $$$
