need help with metallic thread

I need help on how to use metallic thread in a machine embroidery sewing machine. I have tried using a metallic needle with a long eye, slowed my speed down but I still get the thread to bunch up under the garment. You can hear the bobbin case making funny noises and then the metallic thread is looped underneath. Any help would be appreciated. thanks
