I don't have the smala, but I do have other Ligne Roset furniture and I am extremely impressed with the quality of the fabric and construction of the furniture. All the welting is perfect and the details in the way the cushions fit into the couch is great.

Have you gone to a Ligne Roset store to test it?

yes have seen it and sat on it but different when u sleep on it..we like the style and just want to be sure that opening and closing it won't make it quickly rickety
