Memorial Day plans

Woohoo! The holiday that represents the beginning of summer. HA! Here it's felt like summer for several weeks. My hubby and I are doing yardwork today and tomorrow. I'm already inside to cool down for a bit. Wednesday we'll head to a lake house for several days. Also plan on a couple of antiquing ventures. The lake we're going to is a couple of cities/counties over from us, so we can head out from there to some areas we don't get to as often. Lots of sunshine, water, grilling!

I think all our area schools will be out by sometime this week. Many are already out for the summer.

Fun times!!

Memorial day is really special for us cause that's the weekend my husband arrived from Sweden. He came for a visit and never went home. That was 13 years ago!

We will see if we can get some yardwork done if weather cooperates.

The Y is open, and my favorite Zumba instructor said she is teaching.

Our weekend is sort of messed up. Saturday will find DH helping his ex-wife move out of her now second ex-husband's house. Crazy, right? And I am hoping I don't get roped into this escapade, but I'm not having a good feeling about it. Welcome to our family.

I've got to play with the church orchestra for two services Sunday morning. And DH has a concert Monday night. So our weekend is all goofed up and chopped up. No time even to just drive to Atlanta for a day and hang out and shop. I hope I can use the time to really get some cleaning and yard work done. Our house is about 35% glass, and I really need to clean the windows inside and out.

We're heading first to the University of Oklahoma for DD's campus tour, class sign up, etc. From there we're heading to DH's weekend-long high school (multi)class reunion.

Getting a monster tattoo on my back on Friday. Not of a monster but it's going to be big! Then going to a rock show that night - I know I'm hardcore LOL! Then on Saturday we are heading up to Dallas to go sailing with my FIL & his GF. Should be fun!

I'm heading to Santa Clara Wednesday to work on MIL's house. We are trying to get it ready to rent. The wallpaper has been stripped, many rooms and closets are freshly painted. Need to replace a bathroom vanity and all light fixtures. Her current fixtures are too nice to go with a rental so I plan to do simple but nice fixtures. That means I will be traveling Saturday, coming home. Will take Mom to graveyards with fresh flowers while I'm own there.

I have a four day weekend! I'm hoping to get DH to come with me and take our dogs to the coast Fri & Sat. My mom lives at the coast so we can stay at her place since every hotel, beach rental and camping site is booked. Plus 5/27 marks the anniversary of my Dads death, so we try to see or call her on this weekend.

The rest of the time will be spent puttering around the house. Maybe BBQ if it's warm enough (cool & rainy this week). Also plan to get as much scrapbooking in as I can. Photos from my trip to go see Van Halen are waiting to be scrapped!

Memorial Day weekend is super busy at the restaurants that DH and I work in. He will be making Frozen Mudslides by the gallon Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I will be slinging eggs with DD Sunday and Monday. Friday night we are having our usual crowd of teenaged boys with the addition of one newcomer. I'm making meatballs now so I can enjoy Friday afternoon by the pool with the kids.

Hopefully I will be able to get some annuals planted as well. I got my few vegetable plants in on Sunday. I have to go slowly and plan ahead or I end up buying too much.

I'm heading to Cape May on Thursday night for an annual girl's weekend. There are seven of us and we rent the same house every year. It's a cute Victorian in town with slipcovered couches and a lovely front porch. We all bring good food to have for breakfast and lunch and we treat ourselves to nice dinners out. If the weather's good we're at the beach, and we also shop, watch movies and just hang out. We love to walk through town and look at the beautiful houses and gardens, and usually one morning we go to a local Pilates studio and pay to have a private class.

It's far from a girls gone wild weekend, but we definitely have our fun!

It's my birthday weekend so my DSis and her DH are coming to town. She is also bringing her BFF & her DH. We are renting a limo and going to the beach music fest here. It will be 11 of us including my DD, DS & his DW. Warning... some beer and wine my be consumed!!! Parting fools for 5 days!!! Good times for sure!!! Happy Memorial Day to all :)

We are going to the beach with two other families. My kids have a four day weekend, so it will be nice to get away. We're going to drive out onto Assateague Island one day where we can get away from the beach crowds and have a bonfire late into the evening. The kids love that. We'll come back Sunday night to beat the traffic. I'm hoping to do some gardening on Monday and have a laid back cookout with the neighbors.

Kitchenwitch, I LOVE Cape May. My neighbor's parents have owned a summer home there for years. It is unbelievable - about 8 bedrooms with several bathrooms and a huge wraparound porch. I haven't been in years, but dh and two of my kids are going to be away later this summer so I'll be alone with my two youngest. She invited me to go up with her kids for the weekend and I can't wait. Such a cute little beach town. I drool over the houses there and wish I could afford to buy one! Have a great time!

I also adore Cape May. and of course Assateaque. sticking close this weekend, Baltimore herb festival Saturday, picnic and canoeing with family at Piney Run Park on Sunday, and maybe dropping in on local auction on Monday. or plans could change totally! we roll with it!

Friday night a fun adult only Summer kick off party at a good friend's house, Saturday I'm working, Sunday is a 3 year old's birthday party of very good friends of ours, Monday morning marching in our town parade with my daughter and the brownie troop, and then heading home for a relaxing day in our own backyard. Can't believe half the year is almost behind us already!

PS- I'm jealous of Tina- that sounds a lot better than my hectic weekend.

We are going to a Memorial Day party...next door! We live at the lake so there'll be kayaking, water skiing and wake boarding, swimming, games, plenty of food, laughter, music and conversation and a margarita, mojito, or martini, or two, with a whole lot of other families! It's always great fun! The homeward journey takes seconds!

We go to our weekend lake place for a long weekend - Friday through Tuesday. Spend some time getting things "operational" for summer and some time cooking on the grill and getting together with friends and family. It's a great weekend - the start of summer and frequent visits to the lake. The weather isn't supposed to be too nice this year. Can't complain though because it's been such a delightful spring.
