The steel is a artistic representation of a plant called Phormium, otherwise known as New Zealand Flax. We use them elsewhere in this garden but borrowed their form to create an art installation at the entry to the residence.

I'm interested in why there's a vent on the bench. Inquiring minds need to know!

I do like the sculpture. Your intent was accomplished... vertical height, theme extension (modern), and color all pulled together nicely. Well done!

Thank you for your compliment. The "vent" on the bench is actually a screen to allow the plant material to grow over the side, giving it a "wrap around" effect.

Unlike New Zealand flax leaves, these cylindrical spikes can stake you if you accidentally fall into them!
