Just passing through... One category you may not have thought to check out is "telephone tables" aka "phone stands". I purchased one for DH's nightstand at Pier One, it's almost exactly like this one but it's only 16" wide. Country Curtains has a very cute little two-drawer table if you like painted finishes, although it's a bit on the spendy side.

I don't know what style you're looking for so I can't make specific suggestions past that, but that might give you some options.

I managed to find something perfect for us at Ikea, of all places. Sorry, I'm not the hugest fan. But we found a bedside table that was small, but had a drawer and a cabinet with an adjustable shelf. It's perfect sizewise, very sturdy and looks great. Our particular choice was to get the ones that were painted white, as we had a lot of dark wood in the room already. It may be worth a shot to check them out. I took a quick glance at their online catalog and couldn't find the one we got, sorry.
