yes a ready made will be fine.

confirm measurements and dimensions.

take appropriate steps to ensure heights are honored so you end up with a flush transition.

ensure measurements include a perimeter grout(caulk) joint around the medallion.

seal the medallion to prevent moisture issues and use a colored caulk coded to match the grout around the perimeter of the medallion to meet the tile.

Hey Floorman, Thanks for the input!

I'll post a picture when it is installed..which maybe awhile. Installer said it would take a week for the project; I thought that was reasonable. Now he is concerned that we won't make the April 12 deadline from a start date of March 27 on 1300 sq ft.

mustangs,

here is my floor medallion set in 16" travertine. The medallion is from EXPO, waterjet cut marble. It was about 3/8" thick, the same as the stone. make sure that you level the two. A square medallion will be easier to cut around. The circle was a challenge (DIY) but turned out nicely...

Pharaoh, Thanks for sharing your beautiful medallion. I purchased the medallion today, it's a 36" square with muted colors.
