Craftsman Garage Door Opener

I have an older craftsman GDO with an outside keyless entry pad, and ever since I changed the battery in the remote I have had problems. After I clear all codes by pressing and holding the SRT button, I can program only one device to work. If I program the remote, I can not add the keyless pad. If program the keyless pad I can not add the remote. No one seems to know what is wrong. Can you help?
