I agree, I would love to know what makes a bad board in your mind. Especially in a hand scraped distressed look.What is a flaw to be more specific...? You've got to understand, Pinnacle knows what lot your floor came from..If no one else complained...well it speaks for itself...so please explain what a flaw is before you bash pinnacle...

I too recently had Pinnacle flooring laid. It does have dents and horse shoe shaped gouges put in the floor. The sample boards did not show any gouges at all so I was surprised to see them too. The wood looks beautiful but I could have done without the gouges. At the very least, it would have been appropriate for the sample boards to more accurately depict what the finished product would be. The issue here is not what depicts a defective board, but what depicts a defective sample board that should accurately portray the finished product. The sample boards need to have gouges in them as well. Not all hand scraped flooring has these gouges so it is not fair to tell us we should expect that. I suspect the previous comments to have come from employees at Pinnacle flooring trying to stand up for their product. So, now we have two complaints from consumers.

You are incorrect; the previous posters have nothing to do with the manufacturer of the product. Both are or were in the flooring business, so they write with knowledge and experience.

Although the OP believes that the goods should match the samples, most flooring manufacturers clearly state that "decoration and shading may differ"... I have used the product and culled several "wrecked" boards from the batches. That the OP claims that there were too many of those may indicate that the variation from the samples may have been too great to be considered acceptable.

The OP does like the final result, however.

I was curious so I googled the country classics. The Pinnacle description says "hand scraped rustic", which to me implies a fairly "distressed" looking product which would include some small knots, gouges, etc.

I have a hand-scraped floor myself and I also had quite a few defective boards. However what was defective with the boards I returned was the finish. Some had quite a few dust nibs, bubbling in the finish, etc. Those I would consider defects in a "rustic" floor, not so much gouges, etc.

Very confused about Pinnacle right now. I am looking at the Plantation 8" series and can't get good information about whether it is oil-finished or has their no-wax coating. The product is offered by my local distributor but is not listed on their website.

Is Pinnacle engineered hardwood flooring still available? I know this is an old post but i need to replace an area and can’t find it
