A sectional garage door was installed in a "flip" I bought in April. I don't know what kind of door was in before. The new one is a sectional. The problem is that the door is too high and, to fix it, they just cut the joists! I am trying to figure out how to make the door fit, but with lower clearances so I can replace/repair joists and install a garage door opener.

If I drop the horizontal track down (it is now about six inches below joist on a piece of L) and tried to shorten the vertical track (at the door opening), would I have to replace sections with shorter ones, remove sections?
