Sleep Sofa Opens Sideways?

We have an office/guest-room that is in need of a sleep sofa. A traditional sleep sofa will barely fit the room when the bed is open. Does anyone have any experience with sleep sofas which open so that the length of the sleeping surface is the same as the length of the seating area. We have seen such sleep sofas on Target's website but they are apparently not stocked in their stores. We are trying to avoid a futon sleep sofa. Thanks.

Yes, when I was at Hancock & Moore touring their factory Jimmy Moore showed me a new sofa that does exactly that. Basically you pull on the arm on one side, and it opens into a sleeper.

This is made for a subsidiary of H&M called Cabot Wren, which is a contract line for architects and designers. You won't see it in any retail store, nor be able to source it easily, however I can get one if it works for you.

Price range? Requires some more phone calls, but mid-$2,000 in a good leather.
