Craftsman door opener stopped working

3/4 hp craftman opener stopped working. motor hums, chain doesn't move.No tension on chain I can move garage door up and down even engaged. Tried loosening bolt at the end of the pully and adjusting open button on unit, nothing has worked.

Anybody with an idea? thanks

You say you can move the door up and down even when it is engaged. This sounds like you may have a bad drive gear. Take off the cover and you will find in just in front of the motor. It is white nylon.
