I will be replacing carpet with solid mahogany wood that is 3/4" thick. It will butt against tile; there will be a difference in the heights of the two. There is currently carpet in the bedroom and in the closet. The bathroom, which already has tile on it is in between the two. The pooter area has a long crack in 3 of the 5 tiles so I am concerned how far the crack extends. The outer part of the bathroom does not have any visible cracks.

We were considering putting the new tile over the old but the flooring in the closet currently will be different then need to be built up. what is the best approach to installing the floor????? Contractors come tomorrow and my husband and I disagree how to proceed.
