casual extendable pedestal dining table

Hi,

I'm looking for a black pedestal round table that extends to an oval shape for my breakfast room. Initially we bought this one from Crate&Barrel:

http://www.crateandbarrel.com/family.aspx?c=882&f=4260

But when it was delivered, it's all dinged up so we had to return it. We failed to find another black pedestal table that we like in our local furniture stores.

Now I just saw a contemporary one on clubfurniture.com:

http://www.clubfurniture.com/socohetaweim.html#

How's the qualify of clubfurniture tables? Are their prices reasonable? Has anybody seen this table in person? I've never ordered any furniture on-line, so I'm hesitant to make the call.

Appreciate any comments.

It's funny when I first saw your title, I was going to tell you I have the table for Crate and Barrel. I'm not complaining because I only paid $100 for a the outlet. I can not comment on the clubfurniture table. Not sure your price range, but Restoration Hardware has a beautiful one.

    Or Hooker has one.

I did get a quote from Boyles for the Hooker table and it's $685 and the chairs are $169.

    Good Luck.

I, too, am looking for a casual pedestal table for my kitchen. I am considering the C and B table that you sent back due to damage. My worry is that these sorts of tables scratch easily. My Mom has a pottery barn black kitchen table and it looks very scratched on top. Yuk.
I am having a time finding a 48 inch table - My kitchen is shaker style with some transitional elements. I cannot have something too heavy, do not want oak, and the Hooker table above is too fancy for my casual kitchen.

I did look at the Shermag tables - they seemed "rickety" in the showroom. All I want a solid, all wood, basic pedestal kitchen table! (for under 1000 dollars!)

    Am I being too unrealistic?

World Market/Cost Plus has one, but the legs are a little curvy. It's on their website.

It is a nice looking table - can anyone comment on the quality of World Market furniture? I'd rather spend twice that much for better quality, if that is an issue.

I am looking for a similar table. Boy, I love the hooker table (planked, distressed) but it is a bit too small. Has anyone seen anything similar in a 54 to 60 inch round?

Hooker has another one in 54

Nichols Stone should have a 60" table.

We had the black pedestal table from Cost plus before. It's pretty sturdy and hold up well to the constant abuse of my children. My daughter bang on the table w/ her silverware and it left some dents but no woods show thru.

Currently we have the black pedestal table from Pier1 import. (siamese cafe which is on sale last I look). The finish is black with red undercoat so the red show thru at the edge. They go really well with my Pottery barn black chairs.

From my experience, black does scratch and show marks more than wood finish, and shiny one shows even more. We like our slightly distressed look because if dents & dings happen it look like part of the look and not imperfection.

uafly1 - I looked on Hooker's website and did not see a larger size for that table. Was it from a different collection?

The Hooker website was tricky. I did not find it until someone pointed it out. It's been advertised in the Horchow catalog. It's part of the Preston Ridge Collection. Try searching by the style number 864-75-201

Thanks Uafly1. I found it on the Horchow website, but I don't like it near as much as the Hooker table (for my room, at least). I really liked the planked distressed top of the Hooker and it seems less formal to me. Thanks for trying.

We sort of gave up on our search, but Crate and Barrel came up with a new table -- spencer pedestal extension table. It's perfect. We have it in our breakfast room now, and it looks great.

Here is a link that might be useful: spencer
