Million Dollar Decorators

Anybody still watching? I visited Nathan Turner's One King's Lane sale today and was underwhelmed, but I got there late and the good stuff was probably already sold out. Do you think Ms. Factor will ever allow Kathryn Ireland anywhere near any future project? Are you as ready as I am to shave Ross' head? I'm so over him playing with his hair.

yah, I'm still watching, can't look away from the 5 car pile-up.
Was that shameless advertising for One King's Lane or not! I'll go look eventually but haven't checked it out yet. I admit, I'm curious too.
Ms. Factor is the client from hell, Kathryn has the patience of a saint to put up with her unrealistic demands. I'd like to shave her head as well as Ross's!
He's a cutie though. Actually felt sorry for him on last night's episode, he's lost in Jeffrey's shadow. He wants to be more than Jeff's boy toy but Jeff won't relinquish power. Ross will have to strike out on his own if he wants to get anywhere, he'll probably do that when he's ready, if he's serious. Listen to me analyzing their relationship based on what little BRAVO TV has shown me. HA! Hard to imagine they've been together for 4 yrs. Did Jeff raid the sand box to find that guy?

I loved that giant mural Martyn put in Daisy's house, wow that was spectacular. They're a wacky bunch these designers but they are very good at what they do.

Ross is 32! I just saw part of the episode where jeff threw a birthday party for him.

I watched one show and it was kind of funny.

Explain onekingslane.com to me. Why do we have to register to look at the website?

And do they carry nice stuff at lower prices? Is it worth registering?

Oakleyok, I love OneKingsLane. The registration is sort of a gimmick for these flash sales sites. It's supposed to confer a sense of exclusivity. As for the merchandise, I think OKL is the best for home furnishings among the sites that I know of. However, their general offerings can usually be found on the Internet at about the same price. Since merchandise is only available for 48 hours or until it sells out, the sites instill a sense of urgency to buy.

Aside from their daily offerings, twice a week on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings, OKL offers designer-curated sales of limited or one-of-a-kind items. Some of the items are clearly leftovers from designer jobs, some were probably specifically purchased for the sale. Some of the items are ridiculously overpriced and some are quite reasonable for the quality. Most of the items are vintage or gently used.

Even if you buy nothing, it can be entertaining to see what's available especially during the designer sales.

If you like One Kings Lane, you will love The Foundry.

Okay, Missy A, I just signed in...we shall see ;>) I think they should offer a tiny sample of what's behind the secret doors, though. Ah well. I'll go see soon. Thanks.
OKL didn't trill me initially, and I've not checked back often.
I think the MD show is a hoot.... and we get to see some quality design and nice R.E.for a change!

Just finished registering for both stores!

I have been sitting in this office ALL afternoon searching for bed linens. I've been everywhere and can't find a thing.

Maybe I can find some at these websites.

Do any of you know where I can buy sheets separately without buying a whole set?

I desperately need some new sheets for a queen size bed.

    Try this place, Oakley.

Leahcate, I ordered DH a set of kitchen knives for Father's Day from The Foundry. They send an email daily with the new stores. It arrives in my mailbox daily at 10 CST. They've had a lot of cute/nice baby things (bedding, diaper bags, strollers) and children things (riding toys, furniture, clothes). Nice quality and decent prices.

Surprisingly, Target sells separate flat and fitted sheets. I have never purchased them, so I have no idea of the quality, but they might be worth a try at the price. If you want high-end sheets, check out www.pioneerlinens.com

Other flash sales sites that I'm aware of, but that haven't been mentioned are Joss & Main, HauteLook, RueLaLa, ideeli, and Gilt. Anybody else have others to add to the list?

I'll definitely check out Target. I don't need high end, just something cute and soft.

Have you noticed that some of the prettiest sheet designs are on the flannel sheets? I never use flannel sheets, not even in the winter, but why can't they make some cute one's for cotton sheets?

Oakleyok, Have you ever shopped Pottery Barn Kids or PBTeen for sheet sets? They have some cute prints and usually offer them in queen-sized.

    Goodness, what a surprise.

I just joined OneKingslane and scrolled to Working Class Studio melamine designs because my daughter was a creative designer there when she worked/taught at Scad. And I saw some of the plate designs she created.

    Wow!!!

monablair, that is so cool! What a nice surprise!

    How neat is that, Monablair!

    Wow Mona very impressive.

I watched last night and I love the show. But, the decorators are getting a little too snobby. With the exception of Ireland, who I find very funny and talented, very talented.

That is neat mona! Which series did she create?

I just caught an episode last night for the first time. When dh came home I excitedly told him I just found a juicy new decorating show! He wasn't too excited, but I really enjoyed it.

Looking forward to the new Design Star next week too!

I'm enjoying the show. Did anybody else feel sorry for the poor young woman whose job Mary turned down? Nothing like having someone trash your taste in a home and decor on national TV. I don't fault Mary for not taking the job, but she could have buttoned things up a little while the camera was rolling. Big mistake, Mary.

Mary has been very funny to watch but this last episode she did so at the expense of another person and that was very tacky and LOW CLASS of her. That poor woman must still be crying from the humiliation of having a designer laughing at her behind her back. I thought the fruit bouquet was a nice gesture. It's edible, it's healthy, only a spoiled *itch would think it's not good enough. Mean Mary is what she should be called from now on.

Take the whole Mary and the client w/questionable taste w/a grain of salt, It may have all been staged by the producers to get reaction shots out of Mary or Mary was playing along,

Dru is an actress, Dru Mouser- I think she's in the new Yoplait commercial.

The hse is 3500 sq ft, not 8500 as Dru said, and the hse is in the $1 mil or a bit more range, you wouldn't put another $1-1.5 million into it.

BTW - the hse can be leased, open thelink.

    Found this too:

Just read that Mary McD thinks Bravo "punked" her with that Taco Bell house. She says she had no idea. It was real for her! Interesting how we viewers suspected that something was *fishy*, but she and her assistant didn't? (Especially after that tacky fruit basket!) The design bloggers all over the web are having a *field day* with this!

ETA: Dru Mouser (supposed owner of the taco bell house) is on Mary McDonald's friends list on Facebook - no, not the company page, but Mary McD's personal one. So, this was a set-up and the Mary, her assistant and anyone else involved were ALL in on it! They were ALL acting and Mary probably suggested her buddy, Dru, to play the part of the housewife with bad taste. That house is being offered for rent now, it's under 4000 sq ft. (NOT 8500 sq ft)! Another blogger posted the actual address somewhere, the realtor's name and the name of the architect who designed it in 1992!

For some reason I like to watch these freaking phony's. I guess I like to see them do their magic. I bet they almost wet their pants when their in the presence of say...Elton. I know that portly one with the chocolate addiction and the ridiculous english accent was sweating bullots when Sharon Osborn looked at her place he decorated. Never let them see you sweat big boy. (lol) Maybe you should get hypnotized for that and the chocolate bon bons.

But, I do like Ireland very much. And, the dark headed b--ch can decorate well too, but her personality stinks but she knows what she's doing for ratings.

I didn't read the responses above me until now. I hope the bloggers and chium expose Mary McD for the phony she is.

Gosh I'm in a mood! I don't want to become a bi--h too. After all it is just a T.V. show on Bravo.

One way or the other I still think it was a bad decision on Mary's part to come across like that on camera. It might turn off some prospective clients and isn't the best way to advertise your business.

Thank you, Chijim, for your detective work finding the story behind the MaryMac/Dru episode and the Hungry Cat pictures. I couldn't tell from the pictures if the floor was the antique one that JAM wanted to use or something else, could you?

After reading about the Dru episode, I wonder how real the Shannon Factor episodes are. I can't believe that there's only one more episode. I wonder the show will have a second season.
