AquaStat Settings

OK....so I really messed up on all of my terminology in the last post (Sorry). Hope you can still help me though. I have found a prior post from someone else that explains the same set up we have. We have an oil boiler with a hydro-air system that has the aquastat controls. After reading the other post, I somewhat understand better, but have questions about what our temperature settings are at and what they should be.

The Aquastat relay (L8148A) that is on/near the boiler is set at 190 degrees. The Aquastat (L4006 - single function) on the hot water pipe is set at 180. We have one in the basement and one in the attic (2-zones in house) and both are at 180.

When the HVAC tech came, he adjusted the temp setting on the relay part to 180, but did not look at the aquastat on the h/w pipe. We found that after the blower would shut off, the boiler would kick on again very, very shortly thereafter. It seems possibly the reason was b/c the 2 temps were set the same. Then we increased the relay to 190 and it seemed to work the way it was prior.

I know when we first moved in 2002, we also felt the air at the end of the cycle was too cold so another HVAC tech had increased one of the temp settings to 180. I am going to guess that it was the aquastat on the h/w pipe, but I have no idea.

Enough of my analysis, that is where I got myself into trouble in my other post. I will let the experts tell me what to do with this info now.

I hope (pray) this makes more sense.
