Need help with Heat Pump

We just moved into a new house and I have no experience with a heat pump. It constantly blows cold air especially towards the end of the day which makes us go to bed almost frozen!

The technician says it is only during the defrost cycle when the cold air comes in, but to my understanding there cannot be a constant defrost cycles that makes it so extremely cold. We than had to go 3 degrees higher than we actually wanted (to 70) but it still is way to cold to feel comfortable. This is because of the draft. In addition to this I keep sneezing when the vents starts blowing cold air. Besides the fact that we have to wear heavy clothes to feel a bit comfortable.

Our landlord now changed the thermostat to a very simple manual one and sent the digital back, but this did not solve the issue.

Can anyone please help?

The house is only 1000 sq feet Ranch and the heat pump is in the attic (as the house only has a crawl space basement). It is excellent insulated and has brand new windows, doors etc. The hall way where the main vent is located is so cold and blows cold air out constantly that you did not even want to go through, but as the technician explained all doors have to be open so that the system can work correctly.

I greatly appreciate any help. Thank you.

Best,

annie
