Heating & Air Conditioning Home Decorating Design Dilemma

We have a working old wall vented heating system. Looking for ways to hide/disdisguis it. As we redecorate room it will be more apparent. Thinking about putting a table or cabinet around it. We use the heat in the winter-so has to be fire/heat resistant. Measures 36" Long, 9" deep, 27" tall.
