Dust problem with boiler heat

We have a major problem with dust. Is this a commom problem with boiler heat?Are kid's have allergy's and asthma I try to dust everyday and you would never know it.Is there anything we can do?

    Actually boiler systems are considered to be mostly dust free as they do not circulate any air around the house to distribute heat.

    Any other possible sources of dust? animals, carpets, flaking plaster, etc.?

    You may want to take the covers off the baseboard and give the fins a good vacuum with a shop vac. Cooler air is drawn in at the bottom of the baseboard, it then runs over the heated fins and rises as it heats out of the top of the baseboard, so there is a certain amount of circulation, but nothing like forced air.

    Doc is pretty much right, I think the only better heating system dust wise would be old style radiators.

    The only dust problem hot water heat can cause is from a dirty floor under the baseboard and something disturbing the dust near the baseboard.

    Obviously, the boiler heating system does not create more dust than any other. But forced air systems do filter the air and remove some particles. The boiler system does not remove any dust.

    I have the same exact problem as cmerty2003. I think that people have a misconception about boiler systems being dust free. As bus driver pointed out, forced air systems circulate the air and that actually results in some particles being removed by filtration. The guy that services my boiler said he had a boiler system and had a glass coffee table--it seems like it had dust on it all the time and he pointed out the forced air systems do filter out some of the dust. Since I don't have A/C in the house, he recommended putting one in and also using the fan to circulate the air or to "turn over the air" at regular intervals to help remove some of the particles using a filtration system. The A/C would require minimal duct work in the attic with vents in the ceiling and then the blower could be used to move the air through filtration. Just as cmerty2003 posted, I can dust and you would never know it--it seems almost impossible to keep up with it. Also, while boiler systems aren't "forced air", there is still air movement. The movement of air may be subtle, but there is movement of air as it radiates from the floor up and air particles can get slowly but surely set aloft and float around the house every time the boiler circulates hot water. I will often shut off the circulation in certain rooms upstairs as the heat from downstairs is enough to keep the upstairs comfortable. On the somewhat rare occasion I turn on the circulation in those rooms, the previously undisturbed dust that has accumulated on or near the pipes is set aloft in the room and the air is so heavy with dust, you can actually smell it and it can make you sneeze. So anyway, I'm looking into combining air filtration with an A/C system. I'm wondering if anyone else has went down this road and how they feel about the results.

    We just moved into our new (50's) house this past August and it's the first house I've owned with hot water baseboard heating. All of our other houses had forced air furnaces. It's just the opposite for us, I can't believe how much less dusty this house is compared to the others and I've attributed it to the fact that there isn't a furnace blowing all that air around. I used to put good Filtrete brand filters on our last furnace and still had more dust than I cared for. I have some glass top coffee tables etc in the family room and they can go a good two weeks or more without looking bad,, not the few days it was in the other houses.

    First, you should educate yourself on what is in house dust. Try an internet search and be advised: It ain't pretty.

    Are you and kids getting medical attention for asthma and allergies? If so, you might qualify for tax credit if you purchase air cleaners.

    We have had radiator heat for twenty years and the dust we have in the house collects on surfaces, tvs, and on the floor and stairs. We use portable machines, air cleaners to control it. Our cats shed and this adds to the floor dust clumps. A lot of dust has other sources as you will find if you do the search.

    \Try consumer reports for some recommendations. I'm sure they have covered this topic. Tell your kids to stop shedding skin too.

    I have a boiler furnace with radiater heat I have so much dust in the winter Have already cleaned the air retu;rns Can you help me find someone who knows what they are doing I have already spent money on 2 furnace men and they didn't help at all

Wet dust collector: also known as wet scrubber, with water or other liquids for dust removal facilities to collect the dust particles of the medium, according to the energy level is divided into the low wet dust collector (spray tower, water film dust etc.) and high wet dust remover (venturi filter).

    I sympathize with you. Boiler heater, 3 dogs and i cannot comprehend why SO MUCH dust when no vents to blow it around
