Sorry to your guy but there are alot of people in the country doing it every day, just make sure you have the lineset sleeved in pvc so you can remove it if necessaryand that you won't have trouble with abrasion from gound movement forces

You might have problems with slugging of your refrigerant due to the cold in the ground especially with a Heat Pump bya also with an AC. You would need to add p traps to the suction lines. It can be done but I would avoid it if possible because if there is a leak underground it can be hard to diagnose and nearly impossible to fix. Burial seems to encourage leaks because of moisture and other factors. Just my humble opinion. Hope this helps.

The question isn't can it or can't it be done, the question is what is the cost to do it. The HVAC guy doesnÂt want to do it because he isnÂt a concrete guy.

Sleeve it through 4 inch PVC and insulate it as normal. That should take care of any potential problem with direct burial.

Have the PVC sleeve and the concrete work done before the HVAC guy shows up to do his work. He will pull it through if it is ready to go for him. Otherwise he'll tell you it can't be done.

texasacguy, this was my contractor's reason for not being able to do it. will be installing a bryant duel fuel system. moisture (from the ground) will not be an issue. i was going to run a 4" conduit with 45 degree els to run the lineset thru. (will this be easy to do?) this could be insulated if need be. could you please explain the p traps? what are the other factors you referred too? if there was a problem in the future, the lineset could be removed in necessary. thanx to all for your comments. mike
