Make your own. Use the school colors. What are they? Then make the logo in the center or in a block of the afghan.

I enlarged the logo for my son's school where he earned his masters. I made the logo, the torch aflame, in purl against a garter background on one end of a neckscarf. I filled out graph paper to make my pattern for the torch.

The school colors are scarlet and gray. The symbol is a block "O", so it really isn't that hard, but I'm afraid!

What part of the project worries you? Doing the symbol? You could skip the symbol and just do the colors. Scarlet and grey is a pretty combination.

You could go to Michaels and look at their pattern books for baby afghans and see if one would work with a two color pattern. One thing you might have to think about is that many baby afghan patterns use "baby" yarn, and you are more likely to find the colors you want in a worsted yarn. Not sure how to adapt the pattern to a different yarn, but if you want to try it, many others here can help.

Someone here listed a site for a sport themed baby afghan. Each square was a different sport ball--football, baseball, soccer ball, tennis ball, etc. Would that look cute in blocks where the background was the red? Or better yet, each block is maybe an ecru background but joined with a bright red frame around each block. Trim the afghan in alternating rows of red and grey? I would not think that using a lot of gray would be very festive looking, but you do use the grey as shading in some of the balls. That could look cute. You could even make an ABC afghan and then put the squared off Ohio O in the center of the afghan or as the O of the alphabet. I have seen an alphabet baby afghan pattern at a free online site. If you made it in sport yarn, you should be able to find a scarlet and a grey yarn.

I got inspired, and started sketching out ideas. I chose one, and will figure out the pattern once I get the wool/gauge. I think I'll even make a matching hat!

OK, we are curious. What did you decide to do?

I knit a K-State Power Cat into the front of a sweater once (ooops, is that a licensed image????). I enlarged the "cat" pattern that was designed for X-stitch and made a graph chart for the front of the sweater. The X's outlined the entire cat, and became pearl stitches (while the rest of the front of the sweater was stocking stitch with knit stitches to the outside) and the accent/shading stitches were knit. It was a simple 2 color cross-stitch pattern. I choose to make the entire sweater in off-white wool and the "cat" shows up as a relief in the sweater.

Just one more idea....

Hmmm...how to describe. I'm doing a one inch border of scarlet, with a 1.5 inch stripe of gray. Then a scarlet background with a block gray "O" in the center. I had to go with the worsted wool weight to get the colors. I'll post pictures when it's done!
