I've found 8 inch down to 0000, and 000 size 16, but not 12 inch 000.

I don't know who makes custom made circulars.

OOOPS! You are right. I goofed.

Hee hee.. I made myself some circular knitting needles... don't know how it will work, but, I am laughing at myself as I write..

1. I disconnected some #1 metal circular needles from their cord.

2. With a dremel, I shaped the other (not the knitting ends) of the needle so it would slip into a small wire tube

3. Bought some plastic pony bead stringing tubing that has a very small hole, and stuck both needles in real tight.. Voila.. a circular needle.. size 1, length 11 inches! :-)

When I go to Home Depot, I'm going to look for some stiffer wire.. this tubing is sorta flimsy..

(On the other hand, I've never gotten around to using these instructions.)

I'm a lurker on your group and new to knitting. I've been buying needles at our local thrift stores whenever they have them. I was thrilled with my finds last week. A #1-9" circular needle and a addi turbo circular both for $1. I am getting quite a stash of needles. How do you store your straight needles and how do you store you circulars.

My needles are in the bottom of my tote or in a knitting basket. Nothing really nice for them to rest in while unused.

I did see those pretty, round cardboard wine bottle containers with lids at Michaels and wondered if they would be good to store needles.

Thanks for the ideas knitting needle holders. I liked the idea of putting the circulars in those plastic sleeves in a binder. I'm a wood worker, so I'm thinking maybe of a divided box for the straight needles.

Just a thought... If you're going to try to make the circulars as the directions on the MSN site...

Since you live on the shore, go to any fishing tackle shop and ask for hard monofilament leader material, it comes in 4 ft. lengths and various thicknesses. It would be much better than using weedwacker line for the cable. Don't get the stuff that is rolled up & sold in 10 - 20 yard lengths (way to soft), the stuff I'm talking about is stiff & is usually sold out of a tube. Should cost about 20 cents per piece.
