I like to sc around the whole edge twice in one of the colors, then in a 2nd color hdc, skip 1 stitch, hdc, etc. across or sc one round, and then finish with 1 to 3 rows of the first color in sc. The last row can include a picot. Looks nice.

I generally keep my finishings simple especially if the afghan has a distinct pattern. (I also hate making fringe!) Try a reverse sc (also called crab stitch) it's just a bit different and a nice edging.

Thanks for the input. I am not familiar with a crab stitch. How is it done?
