Hello. I am new to this forum and knitting as well. I am trying to knit a carnation but the directions are not very detailed and I am having some problems. To the extent someone can answer my questions, I would be most grateful.

(1) the directions call for 8 ply yarn. I've been to 4 different fabric/craft/hobby stores looking for 8 ply yarn and couldn't find any. Does it exist? If so, where could I find it?

(2) the directions call for knitting in eyelet lace. Does anyone know how you knit in eyelet lace?
