I'm curious as to what CSA means....I've never heard the term CSA wool, the only thing I can think of is the Confederate States of America, and I know that sure isn't right!

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture - there are some local farms by me who sell "shares" - you get weekly organic produce which has been excellent. Never heard about it for a sheep farm but I guess the concept could work for many areas. Since I live just north of NYC, I probably should check this out.

If he gets his wool in spun yarn, that's quite a deal. In my experience, those who raise sheep don't necessarily spin their wool into yarn...if he 'gets' his wool in roving, will he spin it?

Yes, he plans to use whatever he gets. I taught him to knit and crochet last year when he was home. He often goes with fellow students to a knitting coffee shop of a Friday afternoon.
