A pizza colored floor!!!!

In thinking about all the ad/disadvantages of possible floors for my planned kitchen remodel, I think:

1.A dark wood floor shows dust and dirt big time,

2 A highly shined floor shows every little thing,

3. Actually, any dark or highly shined floor shows everything, so what do you guys think about a pizza colored floor? When you really get angry, you could slam a pizza on the floor and nothing would show. You'd just have to place those yellow 3-d signs, warning, 'Wet Floor' to prevent anyone from walking on and tracking pizza thru the rest of the house!

Oops, I hadn't thought of pets or toddlers! It's the end of another 'less than perfect' day.

Or on a related note, when my very adult son was a kid, he threw up for any reason, major or minor. Oh, stop it, Beverly, you're acting like a 3rd grader!

I'd like a dirt colored floor myself. Oh wait, no, I"d like a boot scuff mark colored floor. It's only slightly better since the army took away the black boots and went to sand colored but still, those things mark up ANY floor!

My kitchen floor is tile, dirt colored, along with grout that is very similar. I see a few larger really dark/black things on it or very white things, but when it's just normal traffic dirty, I don't see a thing. Actually the last time I mopped I couldn't believe how dirty it was because it didn't show anything!

Here's the transition between the tile & new hardwood.

if you have a dog, you don't need a pizza colored floor. however, you do then need a mud colored floor. don't have a picture of ours, but it has the same feel as Christy's, with more green and gray tones to match our local dirt and grime!! good idea! kren

    I'm with you Kren!
Our floor is the color of 'dirt + scattered dog hair'!
That's when it's clean and when it's dirty.

Beautiful golden retriever, beautiful goldish brown colored marmoleum. I've long since given up applying the shiny finish to it. It just shows up the dog's skid marks.

And yeah, the dog has his own 5 second rule for food on the floor.

We had tile in a tannish color. Seemed like my socks were constantly black. Hated that stuff. In our new/old house we have medium honey-colored oak. Never looks dirty, but my socks stay nice and clean. I MUCH prefer the wood, even though the finish has worn off near the backyard door.

No, no, you call IN the pets and the toddlers, and have THEM take care of the pizza on the floor.

Has anyone seen that DIY paper bag, faux leather floor?

My neighbor performed tests on possible floor material choices before deciding. She'd throw down a handful of Cheerios on each sample -- if she could see the Cheerios, that one was no longer a contender. LOL

All of my own floors -- 1/3 in carpeting and 2/3 in porcelain tile -- are the color of dry dirt in Agoura Hills. Works for me.

well, not pizza. but i think my tile just (finished this morning!), reminds me of melting ice cream :)

Thanks so much for your funny responses. This was my first post, altho I had responded a few times. Long time lurker.
Yeah, there's more to life than a clean kitchen floor. Hmmm, "call IN the dogs and toddlers..." funny. All funny.

Kren and Sweeby - Yep - dirt and dog hair colored! That's what we went for and man is working out well. It's only when I sweep that you can tell how long it's been since the last time. I should probably get a bigger garbage can.

I couldn't find a dirt & cat hair colored floor in cork that went with our cabinets. Floor is dark brown - cats are dark calico and black. Too bad the crumbs show.

We had a very intelligent terrier l-o-n-g ago who would shed his black hairs on the white tile in the kitchen, and his white hairs on the navy couch.

If we still had that dog I'd have to go with the black and white hex tile- it would've driven him crazy!

I love the color of my tiles. There are lots of choices. Mine is a grey/brown that matches the wood, SS and dirt. See under My Page.

I just wanted dirt/mud colored carpet. I don't mind so much when spots get on a washable floor, but when it gets onto carpets, it might as well blend in...

my floor is the color of EVERYTHING! I love it! The only thing that shows up well on it is my white dog. Thankfully he's a goldendoodle and doesn't shed. And if he blended in then I'd be tripping over 100 pounds of puppy all day!

We have been joking for YEARS that we needed a tea-coloured counter (and sofa, and carpet, and...).

Despite the limitations of budget which led to extremely restricted choice, I'd say this qualifies, wouldn't you?!

Diva, Yes. I see the tomatoes, the cheeses, specks of olives(I don't care for olives so I'll pretend they're not there)---It's a great stone. Tea colored, if you wish. So pretty. It is anything you wish it to be, except, perhaps a green salad or veggie. Perhaps after a few glasses of wine, it could be green or purple or anything. Enjoy it. I've certainly enjoyed reading about your brave, smart, kitchen adventure. Anyone can spend $150k and have a beautiful kitchen. Takes talent, work, taste, smarts, and some luck to do it on a shoestring. Kind of like a 4 Seasons Hotel. Can't miss. The trick is to find a great hotel for mini bucks. Anyone can do a 4 seasons. Enjoy the day, Beverly
