Do a gauge swatch and see what you get, adjusting from that. It might be a little tight.

Ok, I'm used to US yarn weights. Which is heavier, 4 ply or 8 ply? To me, that sounds like double the thickness, which would mean double the size difference. Maybe knit a swatch with larger or smaller needles to get the gauge to match the pattern. Or if you can knit the smallest/largest to compensate for the difference in yarn with the needles recommended on the yarn ball?
