Annie's new catalog has a waffle weave crochet stitch book out, have seen this stitch years ago and don't remember how to do it, you work in the front loop and back but that is all i remember, anyone remember out there how it was done? thanks

This same approach makes a beautiful basket weave pattern for a warm afghan. Looks really pretty in a deep color. Tried the basketweave in white and it did not compare to the navy and claret colors I had used previously.

The basket weave afghan is a free pattern on the lionbrand.com site. The picture does not do it justice as it is so dark green that you cannot make out the design. I like to add an edge of a few rows of single crochet in two colors to finish it off nicely.

there is a difference between waffle weave and basketweave. basketweave is done in posts and a neat stitch. this waffle weave stitch goes in front and back loops, just don't remember how to do it, guess it is time to get a hook and yarn to experiment. thanks for the feedback............

What you do is single crochet in front loop for first row. When you do the rest of the rows, you single crochet though both the unused back loop of previous row and front loop of the row you are working on. The trick is to have a big hook (L or M ) for worsted yarn. I've done many baby blankets with this stitch and TLC baby yarn and an L hook. Hope this helps.
