So how much to they shrink? And how big do they start out before you shrink them? Do you use a large needle or not? I saw a gal with a very nice one this week, and was surprised at how thick the fabric was once it was felted.

they shrink by about 30 %, more in width than length, and the fabric is very thick and hard to get things through, that's why you have to weave in all tails and attach handles before felting.

and yes that's a bedroom converted to a sewing/craft room. It's small to me - 13x 13 - with a large closet lined with shelves from top to bottom - and my husband keeps reminding me how lucky I am but I could use twice the space and fill it up (laughing- can't we all?) I also have a utility room sink where I hand dye wool and silk for projects. That's featured in the sewing room web page below too.

The book called creative sewing spaces was indispensible when it came to planning the room. I used to share space with a guest room and a few years ago I decided that was too big a hassle to convert the room every time someone came to visit (my sister in law was coming for ONE night and I spent more time arranging the room than she spent sleeping in it) Since then it's been heavenly to have a totally dedicated space for sewing/crafts.
