Multiple problems with new heat pump/AC

Three weeks ago I had a new Bryant 3-ton 286ANA heat pump installed. For the first two weeks everything was fine. However this past sunday we came home from vacation and it was no longer working. After getting a service guy out he said it was a freon leak. He patched that and refilled it with freon and it was working again. I'm pretty laid back and just kinda brushed it off as no big deal.

Then the next day when i get in from work the Evolution controller is off and the AC is not working. I get a service guy out and the drain pain was clogged which caused the float switch to kill the system. The installers used the old drain line instead of a new drain line and that old line was clogged. The service rep then went through three or four things that installers didnt do right and I got the vibe he was not pleased with the install.

Then this morning my three old was laying in the bed and looks up and says...Daddy whats that on the ceiling. I look up and we now have four water stains on ceiling from the unit in the attic. I climb up in the attic and look around. I dont think its still leaking but i couldnt tell for sure.

I've called them to tell them about the water damage and the service manager is supposed to call me back. My big issue is I have little confidence in the quality of this install job and would love for them to just yank the unit out and I go with someone else. The company I went with was recomended my multiple people, had a A+ BBB rating and has been in business here for 30+ years.

I doubt they will just take it out and give me my money back so what I need to know is what else should I demand from them to make this right? What other things should I look for to check to see if this job was a quality job or not?

I'm just frustrated and really want to protect myself from future issues because Im sure I will be having them with this system.

Thanks.

The braze job wasn't up to par; & the drain line ought to have been checked, but I would not be too upset unless they are charging for each call-back.

If that took care of the leak, I'd get some matching paint & touch-up the water stains.

The main thing is if the system works good in both heating & cooling modes. - udarrell

    bull

excellent equipment but obviously a poor install. However,I think requesting the new system be removed is not reasonable at this point. You should not be charged for any of these callbacks. I would hope you are keeping a record with dates for all these events. You may want to request a new drain line be installed. Was a new properly sized lineset installed? Freon leaks do occur on new installs but this is not a big deal other than the inconvenience to you. Your air handler is in attic? An overflow pan was installed as well? If you are this unhappy, perhaps you should sit down and discuss with owner and develop an action plan.

Shoot kills on that water stain before painting over it.

Thanks for the replies....I've cooled down some from earlier this morning.

They did come in and replace the drain line and they aren't charging me anything for these callbacks because of the one year labor warranty i have with the system.

The water stains were kinda the last straw with me but come to find out they are not "directly" related to the AC after all. This is an older house and the previous owner had put a bucket under a small leak in the roof. When the guys installed this unit they moved the bucket. Over the past few days we have had some heavy rains and thats what caused the stains. I kinda felt stupid for that one but with the previous drain line issues i figured it was related.

Other than that the system seems to working great and hopefully it will keep on. They offer a 10 year labor warranty for $800 that I'll definitely be getting. I had been contemplating it but after this I think it would be a wise purchase.

    Thanks for all the replies!
