Of course, you might have a pattern you would want to follow with a specific kind of yarn, but I like worsted. Also, being able to find the color you like also makes the decision for you sometimes. I use only acrylic, and I use Red Heart worsted a lot just because it comes in so many colors and shades, but it is stiffer and a thicker worsted. I think the Caron brand is softer, but it does not come in as many colors. Caron Simply Soft is a gorgeous almost liquid texture, especially after you wash off the sizing and use fabric softener.
