Fixture Lechery :)

Do you lust for something totally frivolous? Something that really has no place in your kitchen but you want it anyway? Something odd or pretty or whacky?

My current kitchen plan has a large clean-up sink and a long prep sink. There's also a laundry/mop sink in the laundry room. But I have this area I've dubbed "butler's pantry" (cabinets for service stuff) which backs up to the laundry, and I'd originally planned a small sink there. But with the prep sink in the island I wouldn't use it much and don't need it. But then there's this odd, pretty, whacky one :) I don't even know if it would be useful, but I lust...

Quite 'unique'!! What WOULD you use it for?? It reminds me of something??? If for nothing else it makes for a nice conversation piece. Really..I'm not trying to be mean.

Maybe it has something to do with the swimming pool that you wanted, but never got for Barbie in your youth???

    Just a though.

I too, like frivoulus stuff, so much so that I have to do some serious house cleaning and get rid of some of what I like but don't use or need.

Wonder what it is about it that you find so appealing?

If I loved a thing that much, I would go ahead and put it in.

It does have a certain cachet....

Bignich, LOL at the Barbie swimming pool comment!!

    Flowerchild,

Are you thinking of 'something' you use when bed-ridden? LOL

    Plllog,

Slapping you aside of the head, No you don't need it, take a picture instead- frame it, hang it on the backsplash in the BP, and in a couple of years (maybe sooner) you'll ask yourself "what was I thinking?"

A while ago I had a similar question, regarding ovens. The responses I received were almost 50-50 in terms of "Get It," "Don't Get It."

So I decided on the "smart" choice, the less lustworthy oven, and then, as fate would have it, our kitchen's dimensions ruled that oven out and necessitated the oven of my affection. Paying for that oven, however, then made a change in my backsplash materials (from $55+ square foot material to $7 square foot). But at the end of the day, I think I'll love my oven more than the backsplash.

My point being, sometimes these things have a way of working themselves out. Good luck!

Hmmmm. What an interesting shape. It reminds me of a fetus in the womb (with the drain being the eye). Do you have children? Maybe you are drawn to the sink for hormonal reasons?? Do you desire it more at certain times of the month?

    ;-)

    ROTFLOL!!!

I thought I was starting a thread about the weird things we get a lech for that we don't really want or need. Instead, I've gotten the funniest thread I've read yet :) Thanks for the laughs, everyone!

Flowerchild, not mean at all :) Francy, no, not a hormonal urge, but ROTFL about the cyclic urges!!

Barbie swimming pool! Bignich and Alku, yeah, I see it, the kind with the "reef" where you put the chaises longues, and the smaller plunge :) Must be Malibu Barbie's pool :D

I don't know why I love this sink. I think it's as weird as y'all do. Raehelen, thanks for the slap :) And Barbara and Rmkitchen, thanks for the support :) Part of my problem is probably that so many of the sinks they make nowadays are SO ugly! This is an asymmetric sink that's organic and interesting. And the shallow part would be great for washing the company flatware, which is lovely but can't go in the dishwasher, even assuming there was room. Ditto the stemware. ACK!!!! I'm stopping now before I convince myself it actually would be a good thing to have...

I love it! Too bad it's too small for me to use anywhere.

Oh my! I just reread my post. In case it was ambiguous, the "it" when I said "desire it" means the SINK. It=sink. Desire the sink. The sink, people!

    ROTFLOLTIWMP!!!

Francy, "it" can be so many things ;) I did interpret correctly, but until they make it out of chocolate I'm safe from the hormonal sink urge (though I think it is available in chocolate brown...).

Raehelen: YES that is what I was thinking of but was hesitant to say it as not to hurt plllog's feelings since she loves it so much.
I was also thinking it would make an adorable swimming pool for gerbils and hamsters.......
OHHH plllog get it. Just think how much fun you will have with it.

Well...okay. But you have to bring the gerbils. I'm perfectly willing to house a weird sink, but I draw the line at gerbils...
