I don't understand your question. Do you want to make an afghan for him? If so, because of time you might want to check out a bulky yarn like Lion Brand's Jiffy yarn. It's fairly big (think it's a bulky wt. yarn)so projects work up more quickly than worsted weight yarn.

How about a "No Sew" Fleece Blanket. They are easy to make.
