DIY laminate is cheaper, a heck of a lot more durable, and much much prettier. This looks like bad faux finishing, isn't that durable, is a lot of work, and is wasted money. Look around for the blank countertops slabs and get a small piece to practice cutting if you're unsure about it. But don't waste your time on trying to paint laminate in a kitchen. Even if the paint is a two part epoxy and claims to be durable.

I would think it would be difficult to get good adhesion on a old laminate surface and this product would provide only a temporary fix.

MOdern Masters Customer Service is Horrible. Product requires lots and lots of work, especially sanding. Kit we purchased was short and customer service has reneighed on their promises. We were without a kitchen for over 2 weeks waiting for the promised product that never arrived. All we got was bogus UPS Tracking #'s from Sally and Aermondo at the CS telephone. WE called it quits today & removed the base coat and decided to tile. Unless you want lots of aggravation, deceit, and poor products FORGET dealing with this Company. I have returned kit to Lowes and registered STRONG dis-satisfaction.
