new and improved layout?

Hopefully this looks a little better. Would you all take a look and let me know what you think. To view layout pics you MUST click on "layout07" underneath where you see the URL on the left side when you get to photobucket. Sorry, I messed up :) There really are pictures there....!

FYI.

The island is 9 ft long

48" aisle between cooktop and main sink

48" aisle between island and oven

60" aisle between island and MW.

Red Wine storage in buffet in dining room.

Espresso maker by wet bar in pizza room--also bev fridge

R drawers by cooktop (necessary?)

Would like to keep a prep sink and clean up sink if you think it is workable and not out of place

Thinking 36" SZ or 42" FD for R would work

Would like to keep some type of seating in or close to kitchen

All windows above cabinets on outside walls--(main sink/dw wall and oven wall)

Kitchen is open to backhall/pantry,dining and great room

Thanks for helping me get this far..........

Here is a link that might be useful: photobucket

So, do you like it? Will you miss having the coffee available from the hallway? Do you need counterspace in that back hallway for a 'landing' for the fridge or pantries?

It seems good to me. The prep sink is a good addition, I think, and placement seems good to me, too. It's a good spot for being multipurpose and different people being able to use it from different directions. We're doing ours on our island corner like that.

Do you think it will ever be a problem to have the possibly open dishwasher right behind you at the cooktop? Or will it only be you, so you'll govern that whole area for yourself anyway? But you have so much room, it'd be a shame to overlap those things and have it be a problem for you at any time, if it can be avoided at the planning stage.

Do you want and can you afford the refrigerator drawers? I don't think they're a 'need', but I can see where they'd be nice to have.

I like it. ( but still love the original "idea" of the 2 islands--so much wanted a room divider and to have my granite be a stunning piece of art.) This is much more practical and will still be beautiful!!

I think having the coffee in the pizza room could be fun. That room gets all the morning sun so it will be a nice place to start the day as well as a nice spot for after dinner with friends .

Not sure I can explain this ---the counter where the MW is will abut the R even though it faces into the kitchen and R faces into hall. If R door opens left won't I be able to use that counter as a landing space?

Yep, will need landing for pantries--thanks for pointing that out. How would you do that? Make one side of hallway wih upper and lower cabinets and open counters in between just like you would in a kitchen?

DW placement is definitely food for thought. I tend to load the DW at night and unload in morning so mostly it will be me. Definitely want to do it right now while I have the chance so please don't hesitate to suggest changes.
R drawers have been appealing since the beginning. If having them would make the kitchen work much better, I can afford to add them. I've just never know anyone that had them, so I worry I would be spending money that I could use elsewhere. Anyone have them? Use them?

Will your island have anything on it besides your prep sink? Do you love you layout?

Thanks again for your help :)
