I don't have personal experience with these products, but one difference in general is that fluorescent light diffuses immediately and spreads around, even more so if it's in a housing with a diffusing cover. LED undercounter lights are more pinpoint looking. Over a glossy counter, you can see the lights reflected as dots. Whether you like that is personal taste. Also personal taste is whether you're looking for drama or if you want unnoticeable task lighting.

Someone on the Lighting Forum sent me to Walters Wholesale Electric, which was a fantastic recommendation. I don't know if they have a store near you. In Culver City, Calif., they have a showroom with different light schemes installed, and lighting designers on staff. One of the first things they said to me is that a lot of the products out there don't actually work. Good to know, huh?

I really like the T4 micro fluorescents from Pegasus Lighting with the 3000k "warm light" bulbs. They can be hardwired or plug in. They are about 1" thick, but the hardwire box is a bit thicker/deeper.

You can plug them end-to-end across the bottom of your cabinets, or if you have a corner, you can connect them with a flexible connector wire.

I really like their even light.

I used Kichler fluorescents. They're 1" high. If you don't like the bulb that comes with the fixture you can always swap 'em out.

I just ordered the T4 adjustable microfluorescent from Pegasus. They have a sheild that rotates around the light so you can direct the light where you want it, on counter or toward the backsplash.

LEDs don't look like pinpoints. Someone on the forum just did a kitchen with LED undercabinet lights and they are really pretty and look just like fluorescent lights but with a warm light. If I remember the user name, I will post it but do a search on this forum for LEDs.

Thanks, everyone. We looked at the Pegasus and some LED lights mentioned on the lighting forum. Both were too big when it came to the power connections-- the lights were thin but the power connects were too large.

After debating the options including Kichler, we ended up purchasing Alkco's Aris LED lights. They ended up being less expensive than Alkco's Slique T2 line, so we saved some money to boot.

BIRKIE!!!! -- What did you use *in* your cabinets??? You posted a photo of your glass-front cabinets with puck lights that looks wonderful and I posted a thread specifically to ask you that a few days ago. ;)

The link you posted above has a number of different kinds of puck lights so I can't tell which ones you used.
