Drive up flu shots

Is this the best country or what? I got a FREE flu shot on Sunday without even getting out of my car!

A local hospital set up in the parking lot of the minor league baseball stadium, you drove up, handed them your signed consent form, stuck your arm out the window, and *bam* got your shot. So handy and quick. This is the 2nd year they've done it and they get a great turnout.

So now we eat in our cars (well, I don't but many do), do our financial transactions from our cars, and get medical treatment. What will they think of next?

Awesome! Don't they have drive-through wedding chapels in Vegas? And isn't there a drive-through funeral home somewhere where you can "attend" the viewing of the deceased? Better add those to your drive-through list!

I remember seeing this on the news last year - not sure if it was local or not.

We also get ours free (well covered by insurance, technically not free)and got them a few weeks ago. I know a couple of peeps who have already had the flu! So early. YUK!!

    Good deal!

    This is a great idea!

I get mine at my grocery store- they give you a $10 off your groceries coupon for doing it.

What a cool concept! Lessens your exposure to others who might be sick. At my work we have a flu shot clinic, so it's easy to do. Can have your family come in, too, if you want. It's so convenient for us when you work 8-5.

DH goes to our medical clinic and got his when he went in for his monthly allergy shot. I saw the flu shot clinic there and to get to it you had to walk past a bunch of people who were hacking and sneezing. ICK! Last year they had it at the entrance to the clinic, which was a better idea IMHO.

As for drive thru...honestly, the other day I drove past a church that had signs out that they had drive thru church services! What??? What's next, confession by text message?

What's next, confession by text message? hahaha

Can you tweet the confession of your sins in 140 characters? Depending on your behavior, that could be way too few characters or maybe way too many.

I must be such a paranoid person. I just can't imagine ever doing this. Then again, I am not a big fan of vaccines to begin with. :)

    I'm with you, roselvr.

Thanks for posting that roselvr. I happen to be 4 months pregnant, and I can't tell you how many people are asking me if I have had my flu shot! You start to wonder if you are nuts after awhile when you keep saying no, and I don't plan to. :)

Boop! Congratulations on your pregnancy! That's such happy, happy news! :-)

Boop- congrats! I'm not sure I'd want to have a baby these days; things are so complicated between feedings; if you have a boy & whether to leave them intact; plus vaccines. I run a parents page on FB & try to save articles I find.

It's hard to know what to do with anything these days; even hormones because so many things can cause cancer later or other problems.

    roselvr,
Aren't you a smoker? I try not to put anything in my body that doesn't need to be there

I'm not interested in debating whether or not flu shots are a good or bad idea. To each their own. I just think it's amusing that they can be done from the comfort of a the front seat of a car. What will they think of next?

Congrats boopdaboo on your little boop!

I'm 58 and this is the second year for me getting the flu shot. I have no desire to go through a bout of the flu at my age knowing how brutal it can be. I was willing to gamble up until a couple years ago. No more.
