What the difference, you can't do anything about the price now. Whats supposed to happen is you get quotes before the job is done and compare them all.

I am not asking for a quote, I got quotes and made my choice. All I am looking for are comments on if this seemed high, low or about right. I have seen this question asked many times in this forum before and it seemed eveyone had an opinion. I guess I should have just asked about manual D or j or something else that gets beat to death around here on a regular basis.

cheaper than i wouldve charged but there are others who are probably cheaper than me.
Bob brown wouldve probably did it for a 12 pack and gas money.

ckmb5150 Thanks for your comment. I forgot to mention that the price quoted was drive out which included the sales tax. I got quotes on Carrier, Tappan, Coleman, Goodman, American Standard and Trane, the major brands in my area. The Carrier wasn't even the highest priced unit. I really chose the Carrier because of the dealer here has been in business 34 years and installed my neighbors unit many years ago and I remember being impressed with thier work. It was kind of funny that some of the employees of the companies I got quotes from would call me later and offer to do the job on the side for less money and that they would give me thier phone number if I needed service or if something went wrong. Said no thanks.
