Here's a winter season holiday (not just Christmas) themed GTKY.
    1. What's the best present you every bought someone? Made for someone?
Hmmm...tough one. I think the one I bought someone was the rake and garden tools I got my son last year. He wanted them badly, and I 'wrapped' them like a snow man. He had no idea what it was, thought it was just mom's crazy holiday decorating.

Made for someone would be the print of our family photo I made and framed for my mom. She cried when she got it.

    2. What is one holiday related food you won't eat?
Sugar cookies. Just not a fan of them.

    3. What is your favorite holiday food?
Gotta be fruitcake. DH and I love fruitcake.

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays?
Hands down, traffic. I live in a medium sized city and the traffic is horrible any time of the year, but holiday time...forget it. It doesn't help that I live near a mall.

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time?
All my kids were home, they brought their dogs. We had friends and their extended families over for Christmas dinner. Was beautiful, and we're doing it again this year.

    1. What's the best present you every bought someone? -- That is a tough one. I'm having a hard time remembering what I've bought for folks throughout the years. I guess I'll say the toys that I bought for my brothers when I lived in the Philippines. They were still just little boys then, and they were so excited so get presents from their big sister from overseas.

Made for someone? -- Maybe the "memory jar" that I put together for my grandparents (who are in their 90s) year before last. Everyone in the family submitted their favorite, most special family memories that they've made throughout the years and I typed up each on a slip of paper that the grandparents could pull out of the jar and read daily. We didn't quite have 365 memories in all, but enough to last them for about half the year. They loved it.

    2. What is one holiday related food you won't eat?--Whatever is made with meat, since I'm vegetarian.

    3. What is your favorite holiday food? -- Any of the candy or cookie treats that my mom or grannie made when I was a kid.

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays? -- It's not exactly an "inconvenience" but I will admit to being highly susceptible to the holiday blues, and often have a general feeling of sadness at this time of year. I know - Debbie Downer, right?

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time? -- I was starting to pack for an early January trip to Puerto Vallarta and was very excited.

Hey! I object to the 'Debby Downer' phrase!! LOL!

    1. What's the best present you ever bought someone? Made for someone?
Hmm...buying things for my Dad is always fun because he never buys himself anything and seems to have a hard time accepting anyone spending money on gifts for him.

    2. What is one holiday related food you won't eat?
I'm not a fan of anything with walnuts. Could honestly care less if I never ate any type of nut again.

    3. What is your favorite holiday food?
    Cookies from scratch.

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays?
The stores/mall being packed. I really have to be in the mood to shop in general but it takes forever this time of year.

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time?
I always love getting together with family but I was also really excited about the rug I bought.

    1. What's the best present you every bought someone? Made for someone?
Hard to remember, but last year we bought my dad a flat-screen TV and he was just ecstatic about it.

    2. What is one holiday related food you won't eat?
Pecan pie, mincemeat pie, egg nog.

    3. What is your favorite holiday food?
Ohhh... most of the sweets! Holiday cookies, candy, pie... it's a difficult time of year for my waistline.

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays?
I hate wrapping! And although I love the kids' reactions to their gifts on Christmas morning, I hate the whole process of trying to hide the gifts -- we don't have a lot of storage in our house, so it's a real pain in the neck. Oh, and the fact that DH does not help at all just annoys me every year. Wow, don't I sound like a Scrooge!

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time?
Well, this is a strange one, but right around this time last year, DS got rejected from his "first choice" college -- but in the end, it was good news, because he is attending his second choice (which IMO should have been his first choice) college now and LOVES it. I don't think he would have been nearly as happy at the other school.

    1. What's the best present you every bought someone? Made for someone?
A mother's ring for my mom. It had the birthstones of her kids and grandkids. She loved it.

    1. What is one holiday related food you won't eat?
      Mincemeat pie.

    3. What is your favorite holiday food?
    Anything that is not sweets.

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays?
I don't like feeling like I must buy things for people just because it's Christmas.

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time?
    My new library!

    1. What's the best present you every bought someone? Made for someone?
It was a group family present. Around the time my mother began to get ill enough that she was spending increasing amounts of time in bed, we all got together and bought a color TV with a remote control for her bedroom. My parent's bedroom kinda became our family's family room after that. We all hung out there a lot with my mom.

    2. What is one holiday related food you won't eat?
    Anything beef.

    3. What is your favorite holiday food?
    Cookies!

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays?
I don't like to shop at any time, and this is the time of year I am forced to do alot of it. Yuck.

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time?
We travelled to Boston to spend the holiday with my sister. I love Boston.

    1. What's the best present you every bought someone? Made for someone?
In 2003 I got DH a leather jacket - it was totally unexpected and he was very surprised and happy.

    2. What is one holiday related food you won't eat?
I'll give you two: pecan pie and cranberry sauce.

    3. What is your favorite holiday food?
Two again: pumpkin pie and spritz cookies.

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays?
After 30 years, one would think my mother and stepmother could be in the same place at the same time, but . . . it's just a PITA for everyone involved every year. This year is easier, as SM is dealing with a new litter of puppies, so won't travel, and dad will come up on his own.

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time? Nothing! Last Christmas our kitchen was demo'd, the dining room was full of IKEA cabinet boxes, our wheezing furnace was barely keeping us warm and I had an emergency appendectomy on 12/20. This year the kitchen is done, there is a new furnace, and (knock on wood) my organs all seem to be operating correctly.

    1. What's the best present you every bought someone? Made for someone?
    * a down ski jacket, ski pants and ski sweater for DH the first year that we were married. Why do I remember it so clearly? I think because it was such a beautiful, personal gift for the guy I just adored and had just committed my life to.

    2. What's the one holiday related food you won't eat?
    * candy canes

    3. What is your favorite holiday food?
    * Eggnog . . . I know, it's loaded with fat and calories, but it makes me weak in the knees just smelling it. I LOVE eggnog!!

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays?
    * Buying for people whom I have no real idea what they can use and many times feel like I'm wasting my/our time and my money . . . like my BIL & SIL.

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time
    * THIS is the easiest question :~) Our son was able to come home on leave from the Army and spend Christmas with us before he shipped off to Afghanistan. For one sweet week, our little family was together again . . . safe and here at home. THAT was *my* very best Christmas gift ever!

It's kind of funny, isn't it, how our priorities change as our children grow up?

    1. What's the best present you every bought someone?

Trying to remember! I have such a large family and it's been so many years of holidays...

    Made for someone?

Before we got married, one year I gave my (future then) MIL hand embroidered pillows. Took me months to do them and she kept them on the couch for years.

    2. What is one holiday related food you won't eat?

I'm also going to double down on this question: fruitcake and all those fancy baked goods. No offense, but I just don't care for cookies tricked up with all the gunk.

    3. What is your favorite holiday food?

I would say turkey but since I do both T'giving and Xmas at my house now, I just can't handle a full on turkey fest twice in a month. I think this year I'll do chicken piccata, which I also like. I can make it ahead and then warm it up, make my famous 'taters in a bag' (Idahoan dried flakes, they are amazingly good), a green salad, bakery french baguettes and voila, a holiday feast!

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays?

Crowds. Although I do a lot/most of my shopping online it is a huge hassle to go anywhere and do anything because of all the folks out doing their bricks n mortar thing. And, living in a tourist town whose high season gets underway right now, the cars and congestion and hassle factor is magnified hugely.

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time?

I vividly recall during the holidays having a moment sitting quietly in the house, with the tree lit, candles burning, holiday music on and realizing that I was so utterly blessed: my family all healthy and together, my children growing into fine young adults, a solid marriage, a home, financial security. I'm an extremely fortunate person.

    1. What's the best present you every bought someone?
It doesn't sound like much but I am very excited by the tee shirt I bought a friend this year. And the aerial view poster of our favorite place that I bought his wife.

Made for someone? This was a trick question since I had something I wanted to brag about. I am not crafty but this year I made my niece an Advent calendar with 24 little felt stockings that are filled with candy.

    2. What is one holiday related food you won't eat? Ham

    3. What is your favorite holiday food? My thick cut-out cookies. I don't like the really thin ones that most people make. I want to taste cookie not a mouthful of sugary dust.

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays? I don't think inconvenience is the correct word but the thing I dislike most is the required gift exchange with my DH's family. It boils down to handing each other gift cards or stuff I don't want or need. I'm required to provide a list and then they don't get me anything on the list anyway. Why can't we just share a meal (which involves ham, see #2)? I'm getting myself all annoyed just thinking about it. Moving on...

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time? My DH was ending his daily treatments for leukemia and life was returning to normal.

I love AuntJen's idea of the memory jar. My Mom will be 80 next year, maybe I'll start working on that for her gift.

    1. What's the best present you every bought someone? Made for someone? One year our family adopted a family with two young children who were going through a hard time. I don't even remember what exactly we bought, but knowing those kids were going to have a good Christmas was a wonderful gift.

    2. What is one holiday related food you won't eat? Mincemeat

    3. What is your favorite holiday food? dressing probably

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays? The way people rush around, rude attitudes, stuff like that.

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time? I get some extended time off from work during the holidays and my husband tries to take as much of that time off with me. Just getting together with family, having some lazy days, doing a little antiquing, etc. those are the things that make me happy. Christmas last year will now have more importance to me though as it was the last one shared with my mom. I treasure those memories.

tina (LOL that we don't have to tell what we're wearing or eating!)

Lynn, for a little less guilt try Horizon Organic low-fat eggnog. It's surprisingly good!

    1. What's the best present you every bought someone? Made for someone?
That would have to be the set of 3 hand-thrown pottery candle holders I got my mom when I was around 12 or 13 years old. She had admired them and when she opened the box on Christmas morning the look on her face was priceless. My mom passed away 17 years ago they now reside with us.

    2. What is one holiday related food you won't eat?
Plum pudding. I tried it a couple of times and it never was my cup of tea.

    3. What is your favorite holiday food?
Baked ham (with garlic mashed potatoes and candied carrots).

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays?
The stress of getting everything together in the short time between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm of the thought that we should celebrate Thanksgiving when our Canadian neighbors do, in October.

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time?
Our DS arrived early Christmas morning dressed in his lounge pants. Keep in mind that he had to drive from his place to ours and the thought of him driving over in the early morning dressed in the most comfy clothes he had still makes me smile. He's such a great guy ;o).

    1. What's the best present you every bought someone? Made for someone?

We still buy our adult sons the new Nintendo game system with games. They're children at heart and even though they're married with family, they LOVE playing their games! Let's just say they still believe in Santa. :)

    2. What is one holiday related food you won't eat?

Pumpkin Pie, Divinity and Fruit Cake.

    3. What is your favorite holiday food?

Fantasy Fudge, off the Marshmello Creme jar.

    4. What is the biggest inconvenience about the holidays?

Wrapping gifts and cleaning up the kitchen after dinner.

    5. What is your favorite thing that happened LAST year at this time?

Making it to my son's house right after a blizzard.
