question about thermostat compatibility

I am having a new Trane heating and A/C system installed in my home. The furnace is a TUH2C1009V4 95% 2 stage with VS blower. The A/C unit is the 4TTX5042A XL15. My question is this: I have read several places that the best method for dehumidification is to pair these units with a Honeywell VisionProIAQ thermostat so that is can slow the blower speed down when call for dehumidify is present. I asked my installer about this, who then called both Honeywell and Trane. He was told that this stat would not operate with this system in the described manner; instead, there was a different stat ( I didn't take down the model) that would help dehumidify in some fashion other that just enabling Comfort R mode. Does anyone have any input for me on this?

What does the installation guide on your system recommend for humidity control? The Honeywell Vision Pro IAQ TStat is a very common programmable stat. I would be surprised if you would need anything more complex than that.

It may be that what you explicitly asked is not how it works.

Instead, perhaps you need to say that my unit is a 2 stage system. How does this need to be set up so I get a call for dehumidification when I don't need much cooling.

your dealer is either confused, uninformed, or simply not telling you the truth.

if you live in a location that has high humidity, the the HW VP IAQ stat is the superior choice. It does control humidity by slowing down the blower.

If not the HW VP IAQ, then Trane's 803 stat that controls humidity by overcooling would be the second choice. And BTW, Honeywell makes Trane stats and has the exact identical stat to the 803 at a less expensive price. I believe the HW mdl number is 8321.

Both the stats above have two stg capability to handle your two stg furnace.

If you do elect the HW VP IAQ, I would want a dealer experienced in the installation.

    IMO
    Good Luck!

Thanks for the quick replies! Would there be a source where one could get specifics on installing the HW IAQ stat? I would like to point my installer that direction and then find out why both Trane and Honeywell would steer him another direction. Maybe he talked to the wrong people in those companies? He is new to Trane, but has installed Lennox for years.

No problem - I am in the Kansas City area. Lots of humidity and variable temps. with the seasons.

Still looking for any information that might be of help regarding the installation of the Honeywell VisionPro IAQ thermostat with the Trane VS furnace. I am tempted to call Honeywell myself, but think they might not be too open to sharing much info. as I am not the "authorized dealer." Any direction as to where to go myself or to steer the installer would be of great help.......
