Agonizing over cabinet hardware

I'm beginning to think that in the course of a renovation, it's the little things that drive you completely crazy, while the bigger ones are no problem!! Even though I probably won't need them for at least 1-2 more months, I'm trying to pick out cabinet hardware. I'm about to lose it over deciding between finishes, styles, sizes, etc, so would appreciate any and all input :)

Some questions I have:

1) Currently we have stainless appliances, including 2 sinks (main double sink and island prep sink). I've picked out faucets/soap dispenser, etc., all in chrome. My very favorite pull (link below) that I've found is available in chrome or polished nickel, so wanted to go with chrome only to find out that it is out of stock and won't be available until almost May!!!! Isn't that always the case? So...would it look horrible and really clash to have polished nickel for all the cabinet pulls??

2) I have mostly drawers in the kitchen with just a few doors, so am most likely going with pulls primarily (just different sizes). I prefer the look of one longer pull placed in the middle of wide drawers, but not sure how long it should be. For example, on one wall, there's a 48 in. range in the middle with an 8 in pullout on each side (this may be the only knobs). Then on each side of those, there are a set of two 42 in. drawers. What should be the minimum length of the pull? I was thinking of using a 12 in., but should it be even longer?

3) Any particular sources that you think are good for cabinet hardware - the key being with reasonable prices! Unfortunately, in many styles of pulls I like, the only thing available above about 6 inches are appliance pulls, and of those, most have jumped WAY up in price. The look I'm going for is kind of between modern/contemporary and traditional. While I love the really contemporary look, I don't want to stray too far out of character for the house (an approx. 70 year old bungalow). Oh, the cabinets are a simple shaker style with a combination of espresso stain and painted white.

Thanks for any words of wisdom - I've just recently discovered this forum and it's great! I only wish I'd discovered it about a year ago :)
