Is this Garish??

This is a photo of one side of my pot shelves. I'm trying to bring a little color into the kitchen, but I am so afraid of messing up. These are outside mexican ornaments...do you think that this looks gawdy? Please, please be honest w/me...I'm tough...lol!

Not at all! I think it looks nice! Love your Kokopellis too! (I really like the southwest style of decor.) You might consider adding some more colorful objects, or perhaps some greenery to fill in between the pots as well. Lookin' good!

oh thanks so much! I need the boost of confidence. I'm just so reluctant to decorate because I'm not sure about my tastes. Thanks again...thinking about some greenery...maybe that will help it not look so stark.

They look great! I agree that you might add a little greenery or something up there to fill things out. You might even consider adding some color by painting the wall some cheerful color. (Have you seen the pics of Aunt Jen's kitchen? They are inspirational!) Don't worry about messing up. You can always change it back if you decide you don't like it.

    Hi louisa,

No, I haven't seen the pictures of Aunt Jens kitchen...are they on this forum? I'd like to look.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to do something more but not sure what. I've been looking at *wallies* on Ebay and think they are just the neatest things. Altho most of them look like they are meant for kids rooms.

    thanks again!

Not at all, man I was really expecting 'something' when I read your title. Keep it up with more color.

I think bringing color up there is great and I would suggest even more color to tie in with your artwork.

monablair, That is so cool!! I need that software program! what is it? I could experiment & figure things out!! Please let me know how you did that.

I use a very basic and simple program...PrintShop Deluxe, version 22. It's very elementary and doesn't allow for changing or altering layers, but I can crop items out and insert a neutral background. Then I'm able to deposit personal file pictures or other pictures I've found on the Internet.

Thanks for the info....if it's very elementary I should be able to figure it out...I've seen some of your other posts using the program..Love it!

    thanks again :)

(I'm Aunt Jen under a new name now.) :-)

Louisa, thank you so much for your nice words! Arizonarose, here are a couple of pix of my very colorful kitchen! This much color may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it makes me smile.

Here's one, before we replaced the light fixture over the table:

Technicolor cottage, your new name is so fitting! Your kitchen is AWESOME! Wish I was brave enough to decorate like that! I just love the flower picture over your side table...that is so neat...it matches the dresser/chest between your washer & dryer. Thanks for posting ...Louisa is right....your kitchen is inspirational!

By the way - there is much more "traffic" on the Discussions side of this Home Dec forum, so you should feel free to post your questions and photos over there, and you'll get a much better response. (I often forget to check in here, at the Gallery!)

OK, thanks! I just did a RE: to the wall letter post. I'm trying to learn how to decorate...lol!

    Love looking @ everyones pictures.
