Sometimes it's ok to use certain solvents: but that is in some occassional isolated cases: and from what I read depending on the stain: "some" solvents can set the stain WORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oops

Must read this list of stains and how to remove them!

(doesn't mean clean with the advice they give every day: only to remove stains)

no: they have a great site for fixing stains though! I stumbled upon that! I love what it says about water rings. People ask about that all the time!
City water is FULL OF CHEMICALS and high PH.

I love my new can of granite cleaner/polisher this guy gave me free: I gave him some broken pieces of granite: he is teaching a class on "STAINS" in natural stone: I told him that he needs to come and teach me a few things!

Hi Petra,

I only know this tidbit of info because I used to work for a small company that was a competitor of Ecolab. They have been around for years, they also make a
no" slip cleaner for flooring (mostly used in restraunts). I believe their primary business focus is restaurants and commercial thought. Are you saying they now sell to the public and/or there is at least a way to buy this stuff?

To give you all an idea of how good this guide is, after reading through it myself, I just not only saved it, but printed out a 37 page copy, and sent it to just about every person in the trade I know, from John Bridge, right on up to both the Vice President and CEO of Laticrete.

It's that good.

This would be a good one to add to the kitchens forum reference site!

Does anyone know if this is true of quartz countertops too; or doesn't quartz stain. Mine haven't been installed yet and are brown and spoted.

Hey Petra - I was looking at this article for inclusion in the FAQ. I hate to be a party pooper but could you tell me where you found it? The guide doesn't seem to belong to EcoLab; instead it is copyrighted by NTC-Stone Inc and is for sale on their website for $39.95.
I couldn't find a link for it on EcoLab's website so perhaps it's an internal-use-only document?

so according to this guide, I can use acetone on a stain on a granite countertop and it won't damage the finish?!? I'd think that would either leave a grey flim or eat away the sealant. No???

It'll eat the sealer, but that can be resealed.

Messaging must be turned on by the recipient. If Napagirl has not enabled it in her profile, and it appears she has not, you will not be able to PM her. (This was true with GardenWeb when it was part of iVillage as well, btw.)
