wanna share what you find on your local CL?

I was looking for a bed for my son (DH nixed the upholstered headboard idea) & run across these beds. Thought I would like to share w/ my friends here :-D

this full bed is kinda cool with all the carvings. Probably really pretty with white ruffles & embroidered bedding...

I also found this set which I want (always love those curve footboard). Unfortunately, I don't have another girl to decorate for! :-)

The 2nd set would be really pretty if repainted in creamy ivory & glaze/drybrush w/ silver. Even came w/ dressers!!

what treasure did you find in your local CL? :-D

I dropped my pen looking at those. . . :) I adore carvings. I really like them both.

Those are gorgeous. I used to have a full bed like the first one you posted, I "inherited" it from my MIL (it had belonged to her mother). I loved how it looked, but the yearning for comfort won out and we now have a king as I love to sprawl. Still, I remember how pretty that bed was...my current bed is spare modern steel from Room and Board and while I do like it very much, it just isn't pretty at all :-)

You have good stuff on your CL!

sheesharee: I wonder what the 1st bed would look like if we strip all the varnish/stain and simply wax. Put that in a Spanish/Mediteranean house' guest room w/ simple white sheer draperies --- :-D

Tradewind: our bed is kinda modern as well. My DH does not like pretty in his bedroom :-)

That second white one looks like it could transition into the styles shown in Brocade Home. That look is very hot right now.

Or for a urban loft type setting I can see that painted bright red or yellow and accessorized in a bright young modern fashion like the type of thing seen done on Apartment Therapy.

It's pretty amazing what you can find on CL. Love what you found, Bella.

My favorite things to look at are older, high-end merchandise.

I saw this Karges bedroom set on CL the other day. I'm surprised it has a king headboard for as old as it is. Maybe they used to put two twins, side by side, like they do in Europe.

You have to pay $3,000+ for a new 'engineered wood' set from China.

Magnificent! That first set in particular is so regal looking.

Parma: my SIL is so into karges. She bought this Karges dining set from CL that has 8 chairs, table & pad, and a china/hutch. Original price was 150K.

I've pretty much furnished my house with CL finds.

This is my all time best score - a Stark rug - $100

Those are nice bed sets. First one is right up my alley.

Hubby is just starting to discover the joys of Craigslist. Of course, he's more over on the tools / materials lists. But the more comfortable he gets with it the more chance I have of getting him to "buy in" on my finds down the road.

tournant - that's a great rug. I had to look twice before I saw the kitties.

tournant: OMG took me a while to find the kitties -- it's like one of those "can you find ..." photograph. LOL :-) Your rug looks awesome. Can't believe it's only 100.

Here in CA, in areas w/ lots of foreclosure, people are selling everything & I mean everything in the house before the bank gets it. There are people advertising to sell electrical switch, recess lights, faucet, kitchen cabinets, appliances, countertop -- everything that you can pry from a house.

Where I live now there isn't much going on w/ the local CL. People here don't redecorate as much as in LA. I love LA's CL. :-)

This post surprised me today; I was pretty sure that even as far back as 1994, there was indoor plumbing in the area from which it's posted:

    I wouldn't know it's a chamber pot! I thought it's a flower planter! :-)

A personalized chamber pot -- how nice! Does it come with a maid to empty the pot? :-D
