quick appliance placement question

Is it ok for the dishwasher and refrigerator to face each other. The DW would be on the island and the french door counter depth fridge would be on the wall facing it with a 45inch aisle between them. Is this a big NO NO or a little no no?

You probably just wouldn't be able to have the dw and freezer open at the same time, but what are the odds of that happening very often if at all?

Due to the small footprint of our kitchen we have the exact set up you describe. Only our aisle is 36".
As "deedles" points out, the only drawback is when the freezer drawer and the DW door are open at the same time. Although in our case, if the DW is open, you can't easily stand in front of the fridge.
Here's a shot.

You can see the DW to the right of the sink and the edge of the fridge on the right of the frame.
It's been 2 years plus and so far, not a problem.

Thanks for that picture and feedback. We actually have a choice of which end of the island to put the DW, but it makes most sense to be at the end opposite the fridge.

You really can't isolate these decisions in such a binary way. You have to look at the whole picture. Post your layout and you get feedback on if cleanup conflicts with prep by choosing one over the other.
